We’ve always known how much fuel we use. Before installing Vehco’s Co-Driver in 2007 we monitored fuel consumption by filling in the number of litres and mileage every time we filled up with fuel. We’ve always monitored fuel consumption closely. It’s a must when you drive 300,000 kms every year.
We started using Co-Driver in November 2007 and we obviously now have more exact figures. This has meant less wear and tear on the vehicles and also helped towards less aggressive and calmer driving. When I’m driving I always have the three parameters of speeding, idling and freewheeling set in the eco-driving function, so they appear in Co-Driver.
The only thing you need to do is glance at it from time to time to check that you’re within the parameters for eco-driving. It’s easy to improve how you drive. To start with, some of the drivers at Uddevalla Mjölktransporter felt it was awkward because they weren’t used to PDAs, but because Co-Driver is easy to operate they soon learned how to use it. All you need to do is press a few buttons.
