Four departments for more efficient transport

Vehco’s core business is divided into four departments. Customer service department, or support, is on hand to answer customers’ questions. The development department programs new and improves existing functions into our products. The delivery department project manages the installation of Co-Driver into vehicles. The sales department deals with customers on a daily basis. Vehco’s CEO Magnus Orrebrant and a committed team of more than 30 employees work full time for more effective, eco-friendlier, more profitable and safer transport throughout Europe. Read about what some of our employees have to say about their work below.

How we work

Customer service department

Name: Åsa Gunnarsson
Age: 35
At Vehco since: February 2006
Title: Customer service co-worker

Hi Åsa. What do you do at Vehco?
“I work in the customer service department and customers call us when they need help with Co-Driver. We get enquiries directly from drivers and from their office and it can be about anything. For example how the Eco-driving function works and what’s measured and how to take a readout. People also contact us when something doesn’t work, if they aren’t currently connected or if the transport manager can’t see the vehicles on the map. Lots of these problems can be sorted out over the phone because all units are always linked to our server. If we can’t sort it out over the phone then we send one of our technicians out. If it’s a software problem then we ask the developers for help. We don’t have many problems in general because Co-Driver is very reliable and works really well. But the customer service department only ever hears about things that don’t work.”

What do your customers think about what you do in your department?
“Difficult question. If everything works out I presume they think everything’s fine. Most things can be sorted out over the phone. I think that our customers and people I know are pleased with the support we provide.”

What does a good day at work look like?
“A day with lots of customer contacts and being able to sort them all out to everyone’s satisfaction. The best thing about my job is the contact with customers and getting to know them. That’s the fun part. The best about my job for me is definitely the personal contact and relationships you build up.”

Development department

Name: Jesper Tiberg
Age: 28
At Vehco since: December 2005
Title: Developer

What do you do at Vehco?
“I develop our Co-Driver product, which is basically just software. I’m now the person who’s been here the longest of all the developers so I’m fully versed in almost every part of the product’s content. I program Java and C++ and that might mean creating new functions, fixing bugs and integrating Co-Driver with other systems that customers use. We sometimes work alongside the support department to fix updates for customers who need it. All computers in the vehicles are linked to our server so we can fix the updates and bugs in the trucks from our office.”

What do your customers think about what you do in your department?
“From what I’ve heard our customers are very pleased and those I meet are very positive. Some drivers are a little hesitant about using an onboard computer, but when they realize the benefits of Co-Driver then they’re hooked. I want the product to be usable, fault-free and there shouldn’t be a high learning threshold. Benefits should always outweigh the trouble, both for drivers and haulage companies. Co-Driver should provide maximum benefit for both drivers and owners who buy the system. Our customers and drivers like the fact they no longer need to fill in paperwork due to less administration in the functions.”

What does a good day at work look like?
“I arrive in the morning and fix problems and improve the system and everything works. Or I get to meet drivers with their trucks and we test new stuff out in the field, so customer visits are fun. I must say that my job is very enjoyable.”

Delivery department

Name: Fredrik Rangenstedt
Age: 31
At Vehco since: March 2008
Title: Project manager at the delivery department

Hi Fredrik. What do you do at Vehco?
“My job is to plan and customer-adapt our Co-Driver mobile computer solutions. I make sure that customer requirements are met and plan when and how to install the system. Coming up with good requirement specifications is important. I’m the one who takes customer requirements and translates them into assignments for the development department. I also plan projects, gather delivery information, make sure customers receive training and sometimes I get to visit customers and train them there. My work varies considerably.”

“Vehco is good at coming up with advanced solutions with user-friendly interfaces. Drivers could actually manage themselves without training. That’s how simple it should be. Another important thing about Vehco compared with the competition is that we only work with the transport industry and we know everything there is to know about logistics.”

What do your customers think about what you do in your department?
“Many customers tell us that we are committed and service-minded. We always solve their problems, one way or another, which is something that customers greatly appreciate. There is a positive spirit throughout the company and very few things are impossible, and customers know that. And being able to send waybills digitally is what our customers appreciate the most. Nearly all our customers’ ambition is to quickly complete orders and invoice for them. Co-Driver helps them do that, really quickly.”

What does a good day at work look like?
“When we’re really busy with lots of customer contacts and we’ve been given the opportunity of realizing their wishes. On a day when we’ve sorted a lot of things out and when we see that the integration between their transport management system and Co-Driver works well you can go home satisfied. When systems are running “live” there’s always a lot of tension, but when people ask us to fix something, or solve a problem and we can confidently say “we’ll fix that” it’s a great feeling.”

Sales department

Name: Andreas Östlund
Age: 30
At Vehco since: May 2002
Title: Sales manager

Andreas, what do you do at Vehco?
“My job involves me meeting people who work at haulage companies and truck transport depots. We also meet companies with large vehicle fleets like Arla and Carlsberg, who are two of our biggest customers. Personal meetings with our customers is the most fun and most important about my job. Trade fairs are really important for us in order to meet new contacts in the industry, even if I dare say that we already know most in the industry in Sweden. We’re now also in Norway, Denmark and Spain, so these are markets where we’ll need to get to know new contacts.”

How do you believe your customers see you?
“Our customers would probably describe us as committed, quick, solution-focused and experts. We know this industry inside out and could be described as truck nerds. People who work here know all about truck models, engines, types of transport and we know how things work in the real world. For the drivers, staff in the office and managers at haulage companies. Knowledge about the customers’ situation is what differentiates us from the competition. Our customers are smart businessmen and women who are good at looking to the future. They want to achieve better profitability, environmental goals and cut administration. I travel a great deal and meet a lot of people. Our customers are enjoyable to work with and it’s an enjoyable industry.”

What does a good day at work look like?
“Oh, what a question. A good day is when you get a new customer, or when we get to hear that we’ve helped a customer cut 10 per cent off their fuel bills, or that we have helped a customer get a new customer because we’ve helped them by simplifying their administration processes. There are all sorts of good days where I work – ha ha!”
